The new Meta Verification badge is the new way to get verified on Facebook.

But, that update was just for personal profiles. Now, Facebook is expanding Meta Verified to businesses.

Facebook said that they unveiled Meta Verified for Creators earlier this year-

-a membership package designed to make it easier for creators to build their online presence on Facebook and Instagram.

Zuckerberg revealed at Meta’s Conversations Conference that Meta Verified will soon be extended to businesses on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

In the upcoming weeks, they’ll begin a test for businesses on Facebook and Instagram in a few different countries. Later, they’ll extend this to businesses on WhatsApp.

So if you missed that update, yes you can pay to get the blue verification badge on your profile. The NEW update is you can do the same for your business page.

So today, we’ll cover everything you need to know about the new Facebook business page verification badge.

The New Facebook Business Page Verification Badges

Facebook said that Meta Verified is designed to make it easier for businesses to stand out on their apps and gain the trust of customers.

It also helps clients know that they are speaking with the correct company.

And for once, we think Facebook has a good point there.

Trust is needed between business and consumer in order for them to feel comfortable, let alone confident, buying from you.

Having a verification badge next to your business on Facebook is a sign of credibility.

How The Meta Verified Subscription Works For Businesses

Facebook said that companies can select between a single app subscription or a bundled subscription that includes Facebook, Instagram, and eventually, WhatsApp.

Businesses can acquire a toolkit for their paid Facebook business page, Instagram professional account, or WhatsApp phone number with a monthly fee. This toolkit consists of:

  • A verified badge confirming your business is validated and authentic;
  • Proactive impersonation monitoring for added brand protection;
  • Access to support and help troubleshooting account issues; and
  • New ways to be discovered

Subscribers will be highlighted as a Meta Verified business on Facebook and Instagram…

…which includes showing up at or near the top of search results and being suggested as a verified business to follow in the feed.

Additional premium capabilities for WhatsApp business users include the option to design a unique WhatsApp page.

A dedicated page that can be found online and multi-device chat assignment support that enables multiple staff members to reply to clients.

How This Affects Business Owners On Facebook

This raises a lot of the same concerns people had when the Meta Verified Subscriptions came out for personal accounts.

Facebook is basically saying instead of giving you normal organic reach like everybody wants-

-we’re going to make it to where you have to now pay this subscription fee AND likely a decent chunk of change in ad spend to get any reach on the platform.

Because they’re clearly stating that verified businesses will be featured at or near the top of search results and as a recommended verified business to follow in feed.

So if you’re NOT paying the verification subscription fee…then what do you get? Sounds like a whole lot of nothing.

Plus, the whole point of having a verification badge BEFORE this subscription came out was that it was exclusive.

It meant Facebook had done their homework and verified your account.

Having the blue badge was a big deal, and that’s why it was a sign of credibility. But now it just means you’ve paid Facebook for it.

Now, we do still think it has some merit.

For instance, if you’re getting impersonated a lot (like we are) and you have scammers pretending to be your brand to scam people out of their money (like we have)-

-then it is probably still worth paying for just for the added layer of protection and distinction.

Because remember the first two things that come with the subscription:

A verified badge confirming your business is validated and authentic, and proactive impersonation monitoring for added brand protection.

So if for no other reasons, that may be enough to justify the verification subscription for you.

How Much Does The Subscription Cost

Now Facebook goes on to say that Meta Verified corporate membership enhances the current suite of free and premium tools that businesses can access through their applications.

To help small businesses accomplish their main goals on the platform—building their brand on social media and attracting new clients—they are launching subscription features first.

They’ll keep improving their business services based on the insights gathered from our early testing-

-including adding new tools that make it easier for customers to find and interact with verified businesses on our apps. This will benefit companies of all sizes.

In a few test countries, Meta Verified business subscriptions will be offered on Facebook and Instagram in the upcoming weeks.

Monthly subscriptions for Facebook pages and Instagram accounts start at $21.99 USD/month, or $34.99 USD/month for both.

Prior to making Meta Verified available to companies on the WhatsApp Business Platform…

…they will start testing on WhatsApp in the future with small businesses utilizing the WhatsApp Business app.
